It’s winning at places like Blackburn that differenciate this Spurs team from those who would have capitulated in the recent past.
Following on from the battling comeback at Newcastle, and with a squad decimated by long-term injuries to key players , we got a win last night at Ewood which takes us onto 41 points from 24 games. Averaging 1.71 points per game is not bad, and if we hold up at this rate we will attain a total after 38 games of 65 points, enough to guarantee 6th place at least. However, wins against Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City will add to this, and a total of 68-70 points should achieve top 4 once again.
If we did not have King, Bale, Huddlestone, Modric, Kaboul missing for our next two games against Bolton and Sunderland I would feel a lot more confident though!
Certainly the last two teams we have faced, Fulham and Blackburn , are both playing really well and could yet do us a favour or two against the current top 4 who will find them extremely tough opposition.
Good to hear the Blackburn fans so praising of our display last night as I left the ground, particularly the positive comments about Assou-Ekotto.
Man of the match was Gomes, closely followed by Blackburn’s left-back who played like Gareth Bale! I m sure Harry will have taken note.
Good to see Jenas getting a full 90 minutes in as he is going to be key in the next couple of games . Crouch’s superb goal will surely build his confidence now, while although Defoe had a night to forget, surely he is due a goal or three very soon?
